TERMS & CONDITIONS

Regarding the current COVID situation, seeing as my lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis, all sessions are conducted adhering to all necessary guidelines.

I have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, feel free to ask to see it.

Lessons are payable within a 14-day period. Method of payment can be determined during the enquiry stage, but cash or/and BACS facility are preferred.

Lesson dates work to Shropshire Council school term dates.

Lessons during the holiday periods can be arranged, please contact me for further details.

CANCELLATIONS: Due to a full teaching schedule, I now require more than 24-hours notice of any cancelled lesson. PLEASE NOTE, a failure to give less than 24-hours notice will STILL attract the full fee, thank you for your understanding on this matter.

Piano/scales books will be recommended for each individual and a little homework will be expected. I am an enthusiastic tutor and aim for my students to be happy, focused and to learn in a relaxed environment. Students will be encouraged to work hard, have fun and create great results that they can be proud of.

ABRSM Lessons/Examinations
Exams are not for everyone and so I love to teach for the pure love of it and show the joy and fulfilment that the piano can give, through passion alone. I teach my students to a very high standard, and encourage them to learn well, as it teaches the values of strength of character, discipline and perseverance, for when the going gets tough! (I myself worked hard to achieve Performance grades to Grade 4 and Music Theory to Grade 5. As my interest then changed to composition, I now compose frequently and create my own manuscripts. I may one day see myself returning to exams, as there’s still so much to discover!)

I would say though, that examinations give you a great sense of self-worth and also a source of achievement, acknowledging all of your hard work and dedication after A LOT of commitment spent learning and practising. You should feel that your time was really well spent and worth the effort, PLUS, by receiving your certificate and gaining your qualification, you will have something to show in the long run.

The ABRSM, (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music), is an examination board and registered charity based in London, which provides examinations in music at centres around the world. The ABRSM is one of five examination boards accredited by Ofqual, https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/ofqual to award graded exams and diploma qualifications in music within the UK’s National Qualification Framework; the exams are recognised and regulated by Ofqual and at the advanced levels, also provide UCAS points, which can be used as part of a university or college application in the UK.
The ABRSM exams start with Initial Grade Tests, right through to Grade 8 and beyond. Check out the ABRSM link for more information https://gb.abrsm.org/en/
